     Community Educational Programs & Providers

There are many agencies, organizations and educational institutions within your local community that can assist you in attaining or upgrading your educational level. This local directory will provide you with links to public, private and alternative high schools, colleges and universities as well as to  adult and continuing education sites in your local area. Kentucky Virtual Library

Can't keep up with that library card?  Do you find that when you have free time to spend at your local library, it is often not within the normal operating hours of the library? We would like to introduce you to the Kentucky Virtual Library, open seven-days-a week, 24-hours-a-day!

Research, data collection, or just the pleasure of browsing through interesting facts and information is just a click away at www.kyvl.org. Imagine having the ability to access the vast collection of data currently housed in libraries all across Kentucky without stepping outside the comforts of your home and without your library card! 



     Financial Aid

In Kentucky, the Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority provides loans to qualified students. Financial aid is also available from the United States Department of Education in the form of grants, loans, and work-study assistance. These Student Financial Assistance Programs are the largest source of financial aid in America. There are many internet sites that offer free on-line searches for financial aid information, grant and scholarship programs as well as a variety of other education oriented information and guidance.


     School to Work 

The School-to-Work Program is jointly administered by the 
United States Departments of Education and Labor. The School to Work program in Kentucky prepares students to meet the state’s current and future workforce needs. It seeks to promote career education into every Kentuckian’s school experience.  In the Henderson area the Henderson County Schools' School-to-Work Program offers a number of projects such as Job Shadowing, College Nights, Parent Seminars and more.      Workforce Investment Act (WIA)

The Workforce Investment Act of 1998 was enacted to consolidate, coordinate, and improve employment, training, literacy, and vocational rehabilitation programs in the United States.  In Kentucky the Workforce Development Cabinet's Office of Training and ReEmployment  is the state agency responsible for the administration of the employment and training programs funded by WIA. Services are available to eligible adults, youth, and dislocated workers. The WIA legislation replaces the former Job Training Partnership Act (JTPA). GRADD administers the WIA services in the Henderson local area.
