Wage Subsidy Program

        Contract Specifics: 

The participant can start the same day the contract is signed

All contracts are to be written for 26 weeks

Contracts for single parent families must be written for a minimum of 30 hours
a week and two parent families, 35 hours per week

The employer must agree to provide the participant a "mentor" to help them
transition to work and the workplace

Fifty percent of wages paid to employees hired from the program will be reimbursed

Reimbursements are paid monthly, after a signed invoice is submitted.  Department 
for Employment Services staff prepare the invoice from information you provide

Employees hired under this program must be paid the same wages as other 
employees performing the same or similar work

If the employee’s job duties change, the department can amend the contract 
to reflect the added responsibility

Positions may be full-time or part-time

If, after 4 months into the contract, the employer does not anticipate retaining 
the participant, they must allow the participant 8 hours per week with pay to
conduct a job search.
